Mount Kilimanjaro is famous as Africa’s snow capped mountain standing over the plains of the savannah. It is the tallest mountain on the African continent and the highest free-standing mountain in the world.
Almost every kind of ecological system is found on the mountain; rain forest, cultivated land, alpine desert, moorland, heath, and an arctic summit.
Approximately 25,000 people attempt to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro every year and about 2/3 are successful.
